Author of “ Sporting the Right Attitude: Lessons Learned in a Troubled Family” is a versatile, humorous speaker who has been a guest on numerous radio talk shows around the country.
A keynote speaker and trainer, Walter is known for his exciting delivery and practical step-by-step action plan by masterfully using humor and story telling to help individuals achieve personal and professional goals. In his team-building and stress management programs, he energizes participants from passive listeners to engaged learners and propels the most seasoned veterans to discover new ways to capitalize on their strengths, and how to value differences in others.
Walter grew up in a low-income family witnessing domestic violence between his parents. He was then attracting media attention as a rare Four-Sport athlete who played football, basketball, baseball, track and field. However, a fateful car accident stole his promising athletic career, taking away scholarship offers from top colleges around the country. Even worse, doctors predicted he would not survive his coma and multiple internal injuries. Walter proved them wrong.
He struggled to learn to walk again, and grieved his athletic career was over. Just as Walter was making a full physical recovery, he was devastated again. His father was murdered by a stranger in a random act of violence.
These incidents left him living an angry life, but he knew this kind of attitude was holding him back so he started applying what he learned in sports to his life. “When you get knocked down in life,” says Walter, “Pick yourself up, get back into the game of life…and Sport the Right Attitude!”
Hoping to prevent violence he pursued his B.A. degree in Social Work from the California State University, at Sacramento, and became a juvenile Probation Officer for The Los Angeles County Probation Department. However, he became disillusioned with the system feeling not enough was being done to rehabilitate the teens, so he left.
Walter went back to school and became a commercial realtor and later married Janet, a television publicist. The couple both raised in domestic violence, followed their desires to give inspirational and motivational talks to help others.
The Jacksons attended the Ernest Holmes School of Ministry, (non denominational) and embarked on studies in behavioral sciences. Walter received his doctorate from the University of Metaphysics.
When the Jacksons adopted two of their three children, the couple founded Believe In Yourself, Inc. a non-profit self esteem program for children and their families.
In 1996 the Jacksons founded Self Awareness Trainings, LLC a behavioral consulting and company for communications, team-building and stress management. Since then the Jacksons have facilitated personal and professional development workshops to thousands, including law enforcement, managers, parents, teachers, mental and health care professionals, college students, and entertainment industry professionals.
In addition to Walter’s book, “Sporting the Right Attitude: Lessons Learned in a Troubled Family,” a finalist in the USA Book News Awards, he co-authored “Your Happiness Is Within,” with Janet, nominated for the Global E-Books award. His upcoming book “Stay on Track by Sporting the Right Attitude,” will be released in the summer of 2012.
The Jacksons both served together on the California State Prison Advisory Board. In 2001 Walter was inducted into the Black Sports Hall of Fame in Stockton, California, (AKA African American Athletes Hall of Fame of Stockton).

This includes not only the celebrities, but those “power-houses” behind the scenes who influence millions of lives daily through the media.

However, most had a drive and a will that would have made them successful in most any career they chose. This course is about how average people became highly successful.
What are these principles and what are the characteristics of these successful people? They are the same ones that prosperous and successful entrepreneurs, scientists, doctors, teachers, executives, and those in all fields have incorporated into their daily lives.
These principles and characteristics go beyond hard work and are not popular in the mainstream media, but they’ll be covered in this course. Such secrets as the principal Warren Buffet lives by: “The most important thing my parents taught me,” says Buffet, “was how to love others.”
